When I started this vintage post category I didn’t know how popular it would be. But surprisingly as of right now it is my most viewed topic on my blog and it’s all because of you the readers. I just wanted to say thanks for all the support and Nuflava is going in a new & improved direction.
I decided my first vintage flavoree would be talented entertainer Ms. Paula Abdul. Paula Abdul is most known for being a judge on American idol but before that she was a singer. My father absolutely loved her so I have always been hip to her music but who knew she had a fresh style to her.
Check out Paula Abdul’s vintage flava!
I love all of these looks, she had such fly style. I actually have some pieces in my closet that are similar but I never thought about putting them together the way she did. That last photo’s one piece is gorgeous. She was effortlessly beautiful.
Paula Abdul got that flava.
I’ve always admired Lisa Bonet’s bohemian style in The Cosby show. She was always so free spirited when it came to her wardrobe. Since the vintage look is trending so much now I knew her style would be perfect to inspire all of my fashionistas!
I love the stripe hat style, her and Queen Latifah rocked that fiercely. The hat kind of reminds me of a traditional African headwear the meN in my family wears. The picture with the sweatshirt and the tights is definitely a typical fall outfit for me. And that last photo is so beautiful and effortlessly elegant.I currently have a similar hair style. I love when my hair is untamed, big with beautiful curls just like the divas in the 80s. Hope y’all ladies got some ideas and remember to make it your own!
What’s up World!!! I don’t know about anyone else but I love to see beautiful chicks in some dope sneakers. There is nothing like a bad chick with a mean shoe game.
Boyz N The Hood directed by John Singleton will always be a classic African-American film in my opinion. Now that i’m older, i’m pretty much over the script and paying attention to this vibrant fashion. There are so many ideas to choose from it is exciting. For the ladies my favorite is the girl in the last picture with the colorful shirt tied and the red hat on. I would definetly try that look with some boyfriend jeans. Also I love Regina Hall’s gGddess braids and the ladies plum lipstick, I think it is time to bring the plum lipstick back!! For the fellas I love Cuba Gooding’s shirt in the movie cover and his baseball jacket in the second photo. There are so many other fly looks to put together so knock ya self out!!
My first pre judgement before watching this video was ” Oh lord another subliminal message video from Miss Bad gal Ri Ri”. But to be honest I really enjoyed this video. The music video for “Where Have You Been” was filmed March 7 and March 8, 2012 in Los Angeles, California and was directed by Dave Meyers. Everybody knows Dave Meyers does dope videos, he’s been in the this field since I was 9.I liked the fact that the choreography looked fun and easy to learn. I applaud Rihanna for at least trying some choreography in her video other than her usual “dutty wine” and I think she looked amazing doing it. Also I loved the different visuals such as the African and the dark vivid scene. For all my fashionistas make sure you check out the inspiring fashion from her hair to her eyebrows which are very detailed. The song might actually take a little time to grow on me though because I actually enjoy “Reggae Ri Ri over Techno Ri Ri”. But I guess it’s safe to say that this is another successful hot dance Rihanna record with an even hotter video…
As a little kid growing up in the 90s, I could not wait to be a teenager so I could experience the fun of a unauthorized house party. I loved every bit of this movie but mostly I loved the fashion. There were so many different fashion statements going on in this movie both female and male. From Kid’s signature hair styles to TlC’s gender bender wear, you can tell that the 90s teenagers loved to have fun with their clothing. Sometimes I wish I was a teenager during the 90s instead of the millineum so I could experience the essence of these fashion trends. I also noticed how girls wore less revealing outfits as opposed to now where its all about the tighter, the better. But’s alright ladies if you got it, flaunt it! My favorite outfit is Left Eye‘s athletic gear, she was wearing the hell outta that jersey!!! RIP my beautiful sista.. Oh yea and Sharlene’s sweater was too fly, love the colors!
I decided to do a run down with some current events that I thought was interesting in the hip hop world.
Uncle Kanye and Auntie DJ Khaled unofficial video of “Way too Cold”
Unc Ye I think you got some competition with this one! Wonder how he’s going to top this fan’s visual. But don’t ya just love it? that lil boy is True Grit
Nicki & her random twitter publicity stunt! Check out this video of Hip Hop politics!
THINK LIKE A MAN MAKES 33 MILLION IN THE BOX OFFICE THIS WEEKEND!!!!! Congrats to the cast and director of “Think Like a Man. I’m happy that this movie did well because we need more successful classic black movies. Recently, Terrence J and the director, William Packer stopped by my school, North Carolina A&T University, to promote this movie. I had so much fun that I lost my voice. I love what Packer is doing in Hollywood right now, we support you my brotha!!! Check out the video.

Shoutout to allhiphop.com for the Lil Kim info. I personally would take Lil Kim over Nicki any day!!! Been rappin her rhymes since I was 4 so I gotta respect her. But I think she deserved to have a couple more cites. She should have at least had a show in Atlanta or Miami. Does anybody besides me even care that the Queen Bee is coming back? Guess we will see when the tour ticket sales start adding up.
For the ladies, I love this look of Tiffani aka Kelly off of one of my favorite tv shows, Save The Bell. Suspenders with a short bustier or a bandeau bra is definitely a fly look. Wear a pair of boyfriend jeans for a casual look or you could dress this up with a pair of harem pants.
Ain’t nothin realer than NWA back in 1987. Gold ropes, black & white plain shirts, and black snapbacks= the classic flava of the california gangstas. fellas try this look with a kings or raiders snapback..
Erika David is a popular You Tuber. I like how she switched up the words for us ladies and how she embraced the song. Absolutely love the song “Strip” originally recorded by Chris Brown so of course I had to check her video out. What do you think?
